Nova Southeastern Knocks Out Keiser

WEST PALM BEACH – The Nova Southeastern University men's and women's swim teams hit the road and headed north to face Keiser University on Friday afternoon at the Lake Lytal Aquatic Center in West Palm. Both came away with victories as the Sharks men defeated the Seahawks 603-389 and the women dominated with a 489-68 win.
 
For the NSU men, they finish the regular season undefeated at 7-0 in dual meets this year. As for the Sharks women, they improved to 8-1 with one more meet to go on Saturday before their regular season ends.
 
Both teams started the meet winning the women's and men's 200-yard medley relay events. Right after, Madeline McClosky followed with an NCAA provisional winning time of 17:28.64 in the women's 1,650 freestyle. Ellie Junker followed with a provisional cut time of 17:38.45 in the same event, which was her first provisional cut time as a Shark. Both Catherine Sell and Fraco Lupoli picked up wins in the 500 free with times of 5:21.73 and 4:45.27 respectively, while Lupoli finished with a second winning time in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
 
Brooke Munion and Thomas Rutherford went on to post wins in the 200-yard freestyle, while Alyssa Roehr and Thiago Sickert won the 50 free events for the Sharks. During the individual medley events, Sell had her second win on the day in the 200 IM and Stephen Klein picked up the win in the men's 400 for NSU. Both Munion and Sickert won their respectively 100 butterfly events and Sydney Panzarino and Anton Lobanov finished with top times in the 100 free events.
 
With times of 1:05.11 and 52.00 respectively, Jordan Shows and Klein both won the 100 backstroke events. Later, Laura White and Cory Klemm combined for victories in the 100 breaststroke events. The Sharks closed out the afternoon with both men and women winning the 200 freestyle relay events giving NSU a perfect record winning 22 of 22 events against the Seahawks.
 
With the men concluding their regular season today, they will step back and begin preparation for the Sunshine State Conference Championship meet scheduled for Feb. 16-19 while the women's team will face the Miami Hurricanes on the road on Saturday at 12 p.m. before having the opportunity to set their sites on the conference meet.
