Akron Ahead of the Pack After Day 1 of MAC Women's Champs

After the first day of the 2017 MAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship, the Akron Zips find themselves at the top of the pack with a score of 72. Buffalo sits only two points behind with 72 and Eastern Michigan sits in third place with 66 points.
 
For the second straight year, the Akron women's swimming and diving team kicked off the Mid-American Conference Championships by breaking the MAC record in the 200 medley relay.
 
On Wednesday night at Corwin Nixon Aqautic Center, the team of sophomore Madison Myers (Akron, Ohio), junior Paloma Marrero Munoz (Merida, Spain), sophomore Sadie Fazekas (Windsor, Ontario) and sophomore Ragen Engel (Springfield, Ohio) took home the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:36.89 and set a new MAC, meet and program record.
 
The quartet broke the previous mark of 1:37.28 that was set by Myers, Fazekas, Hannah Raspopovich and Ashley Niznik that was set a year ago.
 
The Buffalo Bulls took first place in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay with an overall time of 7:21:26.
