Queens Closes Out Royals Open

The Queens University of Charlotte men’s and women’s swim team competed in the Royals open this weekend, looking to add more qualifiers to their NCAA Championship lineup.
 
Nicholas Arakelian flew through the water breaking a new pool record as he claimed a 9:09.74 for an NCAA “B” time in the 1000 yard freestyle. 
 
Hayley Blaauw dropped a second off her time as she claimed an NCAA “B” standard mark in the 100 yard breaststroke. She reached the wall with a 1:03.95 to drop her time from a 1:05.08 at the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships. She added another “B” swim with a 4:29.61 in the 400 yard individual medley.
 
Josefina Lorda-Taylor grabbed a provisional time for the NCAA Championships finding her way to the wall in the 100 yard freestyle under the NCAA “B” mark. She clocked a 50.74 for the event.
 
Earning a provisional time in the 100 yard freestyle, Mitchell Harwood tabbed a 44.92. /
 
Dropping from a 2:11.11 to a 2:04.76, Linda Barron secured an NCAA “B” mark in the 200 yard butterfly.
 
Kyrie Dobson dropped a hundredth of a second as she secured a 56.40 in the 100 yard butterfly.
 
Zach Bunner reached with a 47.85 in the 100 yard butterfly. He dropped his time from a 49.92 in the event for a NCAA “B” time.
 
Two Royals dropped time in the 50 yard freestyle as both Brad Hancock (20.29) and Mayes (20.30) earning NCAA “B” standards.
 
Enzo Pazos claimed a 49.30 in the 100 yard backstroke for an NCAA “B” standard.  
 
The team now prepares for the NCAA Championships on March 8 in Birmingham, Ala.
