Franklin & Marshall Invitational Comes To Close

The Delaware women and men took home the Franklin & Marshall Invitational titles.

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall wrapped up competition at the F&M Invitational on Sunday night, finishing the three-day event with a total of 908 points to take fourth place. The University of Delaware took the team crown with a total of 1,629 points.

Timothy Gould posted F&M's best individual finish for the second consecutive night, taking fifth place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:57.31. He was followed in the B final by Maxwell Lyons, who took 10th in 1:58.51, and Jack Currie, who touched the wall in 1:59.13 for 12th place. Justin Atkinson also reached the finals, taking 19th overall.

Eric Dietrich-Peterson took to the water for his third A final of the meet in the 100-yard freestyle, taking 6th with a mark of 47.49. He was followed by Daniel Sanders, who won the C final to finish 17th, and Keith Kamons in 24th.

Eric Lang also competed in an A final, clocking a time of 1:58.36 in the 200-yard IM to take 7th place. He was followed by a host of Diplomats in the B final, including Jonathon Sinton (11th, 1:59.76), Ryan Caffrey (13th, 2:01.61), and Currie (15th, 2:01.94).

Caffrey added another strong performance in the 100-yard breaststroke, taking 12th in 1:00.91, while Lang took 14th in 1:01.42. Cody Kalinowski paced F&M in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in 1:59.93 to take 10th, while Sinton placed 15th with a mark of 2:01.76.

Reeves Connolly led the Diplomats in the longest event of the night, taking 13th in the 500-yard freestyle after finishing with a time of 4:56.43. He was followed by Richard Perry in 15th and Matthew Pozmanter in 19th.

F&M returns to the pool on Friday, Dec. 2 for the first of two days of competition at the Randolph-Macon Invitational.

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall women's swimming finished off a fourth-place showing out of 13 teams on Sunday night at the F&M Invitational, finishing with a total of 695.5 points. The University of Delaware took the overall team title, collecting 1667 points over the course of the weekend.

Grace Pereles notched the top F&M finish of the night, taking sixth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:11.17. She was joined in the event by Caroline Fry (14th, 5:17.60) and Aubrey Chang (23rd, 5:30.85).

Pereles also paced a hoard of Diplomat competitors in the 200-yard butterfly, earning 10th place in 2:12.64. Diane Wagner followed in 17th, accompanied by Allison McCarthy (20th) and Rebecca McCain (21st).

Melissa Mullin led a strong team effort in the 100-yard breaststroke, taking seventh place after clocking a time of 1:07.59. Michelle Wall won the B final with a time of 1:08.64 to take 9th overall, while Erin Smith finished 16th in 1:11.03.

Anna Hess matched Pereles and Mullin in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 2:11.08 to take seventh place. She was followed by Samantha Hershey in 22nd and Mia Konstantakos in 24th. 

Katherine Hirsch took 15th in 55.01 to lead F&M in the 100-yard freestyle, while Hess (18th) and Wall (22nd) represented the Diplomats in the 200-yard IM.

The Diplomats return to action on Friday, Dec. 2 fat day one of the Randolph-Macon Invitational.

Lancaster, Pa. (November 20, 2016) – The Mount St. Mary's University women's swimming & diving team wrapped up the final day of competition at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational on Sunday, finishing third out of 13 teams with 911 team points. Delaware (1667 points) won the invite, edging out Washington & Lee (1591) in second.

Senior Amanda Moore won her second individual event of the invite, claiming first place in the 100 free with a time of 51.59. Moore owns the school record in the event (51.19), which she set at last year's F&M Invitational.

Freshman Maggie deTar registered the Mount's other top finish on day three, finishing second in the 500 free in 5:05.80. Bridget Vaughan won the 'B' finals in the event and placed ninth overall with a time of 5:10.38. Morgan Runk also won the 'B' finals in the 200 back, posting a time of 2:08.89.

Sarah Bonson registered a pair of top-10 finishes on the final day, notching an eighth-place showing in the 200 fly (2:09.48) and finishing 10th in the 200 IM (2:12.50).

The Mount closed out the invite with a fifth-place finish in the 400 free relay as Moore, Colette Robinson, Mary Lombardi and deTar clocked in at 3:37.53.

The Mountaineers are off from competition until the spring semester when they open with a meet at La Salle on January 27.

Lancaster, Pa. (November 20, 2016) – Freshman Will Twizell claimed a second-place finish in the 100 breast to highlight the final day of the Franklin & Marshall Invitational for the Mount St. Mary's University men's swimming & diving team on Sunday. Twizell clocked in at 57.68, while teammates Aidan McCormick (58.97) and Vincent Huang (59.13) finished fourth and sixth in the event, respectively, to give the Mount three of the top-six finishers.

Twizell's impressive day began during the morning preliminary heats as he exhibitioned in the 200 IM and clocked in at 1:53.37, almost a full three seconds faster than the next best preliminary time (1:56.24), set by Cory Camp of Delaware. Camp swam the finals in 1:53.17, which was the only time faster than Twizell's during either the preliminary or finals heats.

Brock Cudahy claimed the Mount's other top finish of the final day, placing eighth in the 100 free with a time of 47.65. In the 500 free, Liam Taylor finished sixth in the 'C' finals, clocking in at 5:02.70.

Cudahy, Andrew Quinan, Twizell and McCormick closed out the night with an 11th-place showing in the 400 free relay in 3:15.31.

The Mount placed ninth in the team standings with 504.5 points. Delaware won the invite with 1629 points, beating out a second-place Washington & Lee (1401.5 pts.).

The Mountaineers are off from competition until the spring semester when they open with a meet at La Salle on January 27.
