Florida Tech Defeats Florida Atlantic

Florida Tech captured a win against Florida Atlantic on Friday.

Swimming in the first meet at the Panther Aquatic Center of the 2016-17 season, Florida Tech's men's team defeated the Florida Atlantic Owls 117-87 Friday afternoon.
 
The FIT women swam admirably but ultimately were outmatched by FAU by a 127-78 score. On the day the Panthers won 13 of the 22 events held.
 
The 400 medley relay team of Emanuele Rossi, Nathan Hufnagel, Victor Furtado and Thomas Steenberg got the first win of the meet for FIT, touching first in a time of 3:26.85. Ferruccio Rossi took the mile after completing his 66 lengths in 16:32.93.
 
Lauren Suarez earned the women's team's first win, placing first in the 50 free with a time of 24.17, while Edward Ilako finished first in the men's version of the race, timing in at 20.96. Next up was Nathan Hufnagel, who won the 200 IM in 1:54.79, while Adi Davidov was the winner in the 100 fly, touching in 51.76.
 
The Panthers won both 100 free races, with Neta Saar timing in at 54.25 and Furtado setting a 44.92, well under the B cut qualifying time. Dar Raz continued her supremacy in the 100 back, pacing the field in 1:00.21.
 
Emanuele Rossi was victorious in the 500 free, making the final touch in 4:45.07, while Carter Juskevich (1:07.14) and Hufnagel (58.49) won their respective 100 breast races.
 
Furtado, Filip Dujmic, Jonah Rieman and Ilako ended the meet with a win in the 200 free relay, completing the circuit in 1:24.02 for first.
 
The Panthers return to the Panther Aquatic Center next Friday, hosting Keiser in the final tune up before the Panther Invitational, slated for Nov. 18-20.
