Tampa Routs Keiser W: 124-11 M: 122-65

The University of Tampa women's swimming team came out on top of an extremely one-side matchup with visiting Keiser University in the first-ever matchup between the Florida colleges.

Tampa started off strong, taking two of the first three spots in the 200 Medley Relay. First place was claimed by UT's Catherine Bayes, Page Fox, Izzy Spalding and Allison Hutchins. The winning time was 1:53.26.

The Spartans took first place in all 11 races.  They included:

  • A sweep of the 200 Free, 100 Free, 500 Free and 100 Breast. Tampa also took the top-three in both relay races.
  • Sarah Mandis won the 1,000 Free. The first individual race of the meet was timed at 11:07.86.
  • Sophie Long led a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 Free as she was the first to the finish line at 1:55.52.
  • Courtney Markle claimed the top-prize in the 50 Free with a time of 25.00.
  • Tampa's Eleanor Johnson won the 400 IM in an uncontested race where she was clocked at 4:56.29.
  • McKenzie Street won the 100 Fly with an effort of 59.28. Street also led a 1-2-3 sweep of the 100 Breast with a time of 1:07.22.
  • Freshman Torey Brierley had a time of 54.51 to win the 100 Free.
  • K. Bayes won the 100 Back in 1:01.65.
  • Brittany Bayes joined her sister in the winners column with a 5:16.88 in the 500 Free.
  • The Spartans put their final stamp on the lopsided win with a first-place effort in the 200 Free Relay. The team of Molly O'Hara, Long, B. Bayes and Charley Ames-DeJesuswere timed at 1:41.53.

On the men's side the results were similar:

Tampa started off strong, taking two of the first three spots in the 200 Medley Relay. First place was claimed by UT's Ethan Harrington, Forrest Lundy, Marc-Olivier Caronand Aaron James. The winning time was 1:36.01

The Spartans took first place in 10 of the 11 men's races and was first, second and third in the 1,000 Free and 400 IM races.

• Tommy Reminger won the 1,000 Free with a time of 9:45.79.

• Lundy was the first to finish in the 200 Free, doing so in 1:46.57.

• James sprinted his way to a top time in the 50 Free. He won the race in 21.81. He followed with a first-place effort in the 100 Free with a time of 49-flat.

• Brett Saunders won the 400 yard individual medley for the second time in two meets with a time of 4:12.80.

• Caron was first in the 100 Fly, notching a time of 52.49.

•  After winning the opening relay race, Harrington was also first in the 100 Back after being clocked at 51.72.

•  Tomas Manso-Fraga won the 500 Free at 4:44.47.

• The final men's race of the night resulted in a first-place effort from UT's 200 Free Relay team of Harrington, CJ Eron, Caron and Zach Potter.

UP NEXT:
The Spartans travel to Sunshine State Conference opponent Rollins on November 12. The meet will start at 11 a.m.
