North Texas Releases 2016-17 Schedule

Coming off one of the most successful seasons in school history, head coach Brendon Bray released the 2016-17 schedule on Monday. The 2016-17 slate includes five home exhibition and dual meets at the Pohl Recreation Center and two teams that participated in the NCAA Championships this past March.

The home slate is highlighted by a trio of home dual meets against intrastate rivals Rice (Oct. 28), Houston (Oct. 29) and SMU (Feb. 3). The Mean Green will begin the dual-meet portion of its schedule on Oct. 15 with a five-team meet in Little Rock, Arkansas. They will also travel to Texas A&M on Jan. 11 and TCU on Feb. 27. The perennially ranked Aggies placed fourth at the NCAA Championships this past season.

North Texas opens the season with its annual alumnae meet on Sept. 10 and a pentathlon against SMU and UT-Permian Basin on Sept. 24, before beginning the regular season at the North Texas Relays on Sept. 30 from the Westside Aquatic Center in nearby Lewisville.

Later in the season, North Texas will also compete in the Houston Invitational (Nov. 18-20), the USA Swimming Winter Nationals in Atlanta (Dec. 1-3), the Christmas Invitational in San Antonio (Dec. 17), and the divers will also be competing in the Air Force Diving Invitational from Jan. 25-27 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The season will conclude with the Conference USA Championships, where North Texas placed fourth this past season, its best team finish since joining the league for the 2013-14 season. They will be held from Feb. 22-25 in Atlanta. The NCAA Championships will follow one month later and be held from March 16-18 in Indianapolis.
