Iowa Lakes Hires Anderson

Iowa Lakes Community College director of athletics Troy Larson announced this week that Miranda Anderson has been named the new head swimming and diving coach. She will also take over the role of enrollment coach on the Emmetsburg campus.

Iowa Lakes is a very familiar place for Anderson as she was a graduate assistant coach for the swimming and diving program this past year. She helped coach both the men's and women's swim team to an eighth place finish at nationals. During that time, she also became a level three certified coach through the American Swimming Coaches Association.

Prior to coming to Iowa Lakes, Anderson was an assistant coach at NAIA Lindsey Wilson College as well as co-head coach of the Blue Raider Aquatic Club while getting a Master of Business Administration degree in sports management from the University of the Southwest in 2015. While at Lindsey Wilson College, she coached 12 national qualifiers, one all-American, three individual conference champions, two relay conference champions, two conference record holders and the team broke nine college records.

Anderson earned a degree in business administration and strategic and public communication from Alma College in Alma, Michigan in 2014. She was a three-sport athlete in swimming, lacrosse and bowling. As a swimmer, she broke six college records, was named to the MIAA all-conference team twice and served as team captain her senior year. She also earned honorable mention academic all-American honors.

She graduated from Fergus Falls Senior High School (Fergus Falls, Minnesota) where she was a three-sport athlete. As a swimmer she competed at the state meet all four years, became a section champion in the 500 freestyle and earned all-conference honors.

Anderson is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in sports management through Northcentral University (NCU).

"Miranda understands the sport of swimming and is a great teacher," said Larson. "She will recruit the right type of student athletes to Iowa Lakes. I am looking forward to seeing our swimming and diving program compete at the national level under Miranda's leadership."

"I would like to thank Troy Larson, Annie Kalous, Julie Williams and everyone else that has helped me obtain this amazing opportunity. I have enjoyed working with everyone at Iowa Lakes over the past year, and I am thrilled to continue my career here. I cannot wait to get the season started." Anderson said.
