UMass Men, Richmond Women Looking for Repeats at Atlantic-10's

The University of Massachusetts’ men’s swimming and diving seeks its second consecutive conference title while the University of Richmond women look for their sixth straight at the 2016 Atlantic 10 Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, which begins Wednesday, February 17th and concludes Saturday, February 20th at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
 
The Minutemen will look for their 16th overall A-10 Swimming and Diving Championship after capturing the team title at last year’s championship with a total of 589 points.  This year’s UMass squad is led by senior Alessandro Bomprezzi, the 2015 Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Performer.
 
Also contending for the men’s title will be last year’s runner-up, St. Bonaventure, along with George Mason, La Salle, Saint Louis, Davidson, George Washington and Fordham. 
 
On the women’s side, Richmond will look to claim its 14th A-10 Championship in the last 15 years at this year’s championship after taking home the title in 2015 with 586 points.  The Spiders are led by junior diver Irina Chiulli, the 2015 Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Diver, and senior Kelley Yang, the 2013 Most Outstanding Rookie Performer.
 
Also in contention for the women’s title will be last year’s runner-up, Massachusetts, along with Duquesne, Davidson, Fordham, George Mason, La Salle, Saint Louis, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure and George Washington.
 
The Championship begins at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, February 17th with the trials of the women’s one-meter diving competition, followed by the finals of the men’s and women’s 200-yd medley and 800-yd freestyle relays at 6:30 pm, along with the finals of the women’s one-meter diving competition.  The Championship continues at 10:00 am on Thursday with preliminaries, followed by the finals at 6:30 pm.  The same schedule will be followed on Friday and Saturday.
