The Wisconsin Badgers went on a tough roadtrip through the south. While the #13 Badger men and #17 women beat Auburn and Florida State but fell to Georgia, Chase Kinney and Matthew Hutchins were perfect on the weekend, tallying eight wins in eight individual events. That was enough for the pair to be named TeamUnify / CollegeSwimming National Swimmers-of-the-Week for January 25-31, 2016.
Two weeks after setting the Wisconsin school record in the 1000, Hutchins continued his unbeaten streak in the event with wins in both meets. Hutchins also swept the 500 free both days. While Hutchins was handling the distance events, Chase Kinney continued her emergence as a sprint star. The junior swept the 50 and 100 freestyles, going sub 22.5 both days and posting a top time of 49.10 in the 100 freestyle. Additionally, Wisconsin's Jessica Unicomb was named TeamUnify / CollegeSwimming Big Ten Swimmer-of-the-Week.
