Westminster Among Top Teams at Wooster Invitational

The Wooster Invitational took place in Ohio this weekend.

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Westminster College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams concluded the three-day Wooster Invitational on Saturday.
 
The Titan men’s team placed second out of nine schools with 1,215 points, while the Titan women’s team finished third out of 10 teams with 1,149 points.
 
On Saturday for the men’s team, sophomore David Peffer (Ellwood City, PA / Riverside) and junior Mitch Stahara (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) each earned a first-place finish. Peffer touched first in the 200 backstroke (1:51.16), while Stahara won the 100 freestyle (46.16). Freshman Aaron Dunlany (Boardman, OH / Boardman) placed fifth in the 1650 freestyle (16:39.08).
 
On the women’s side, junior Megan Douds (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) placed first in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:06.74, just shy of tying the school-record of 2:06.72. Douds was also the first leg of the 400 freestyle relay that placed fourth (3:36.76). Senior Sarah Pace (Cranberry Township, PA / Oakland Catholic), senior Anne Tillie (Fallston, MD / Fallston), and sophomore Carolyn Novak (Pittsburgh, PA / Upper St. Clair) completed the quartet. Tillie also earned fourth-place in the 1650 freestyle (18:12.03), while senior Mikayla Morrow (Columbiana, OH / Homeschool) finished third in the 200 breaststroke (2:28.23). First-year Kaitlyn Fast (Wooster, OH / Wooster) placed third in the 3-meter dive (345.90).
 
Westminster is back in the pool on Saturday, January 7 when it competes in a double dual meet against Rollins College and Gordon College in Winter Park, Fla. at 1 p.m.
