Wheaton swimmers and divers practice and compete in the Jonathan Lederhouse Natatorium located in the Chrouser Sports Complex on the Wheaton College campus at the corner of Centennial drive and Kenilworth Ave. The facility was completed in the summer of 1981, becoming the first pool ever constructed at Wheaton College. Originally named the Chrouser Aqautics Center from 1981-2017, the facility was renamed in honor of longtime swim coach and aquatics director, Jon Lederhouse following his retirement in 2017.
In addition to providing recreation and fitness opportunities for Wheaton's students, faculty and staff, the Lederhouse Natatorium is home to the Wheaton swim teams, plus the local high school and USA Swimming Club programs. It is the annual site of the Wheaton Invitational for swimming.
The natatorium houses a 61 foot wide by 110 foot long pool, with a flow-thru moveable divider which enables multiple configurations for programming. The eight lane racing course can be set at 25 yards or 25 meters of total deep water for swimming or water polo competition. The pool water is temperature and chlorine regulated by a computerized filter system, with rough water during competition being minimized by triple lane lines.
The diving facilities include one 1-meter springboard and one 3-meter springboards over 13 feet of water. All springboards are maxi-flex Model “B” and are mounted on Dura-Firm fulcrums and hinges.
The facility utilizes the Colorado Time System five console and touchpads, plus both a light reflective nine lane Colorado digital scoreboard as well as a 12 foot by 8 foot full color LED matrix display for video and swimming or water polo texts .
Spectator Balconies for 300 overlook the east and south sides of the racing course while window series on the west and north sides are available for a 360 degree view of the natatorium. Deck bleachers supply seating for the 300 or so competitors in the major swimming competitions.
