Hollins Sweeps Guilford, Notre Dame (Md.)

For the final time this regular season, the Hollins swim team competed in their home pool when they hosted Guilford and Notre Dame, Maryland in a tri-meet.  The meet consisted of 11 events and with a pair of wins, Hollins would finish the season with a 7-2 mark.

In preparation for the season ending ODAC Swim Championships, Hollins was able to defend their home pool and pick up victories, 126-39 vs. the Quakers and 116-60 over the Gators, against two of their nine conference foes.  Hollins was selected ninth of 10 in the 2015 ODAC Women's Swimming Preseason Poll and after a top five finish at the ODAC Relays back in October, looks to a top half finish at the championships in mid-February.

In her final regular season swims, senior Claire Webber (Blauvelt, NY) competed in three events for Hollins.  Webber joined teammates Debra Henke (Glen Allen, VA), Hayley Caulfeild-James (Willow Street, PA), and Maya Schattgen (Fredericksburg, VA) to start the meet off with a win in the 200 Medley Relay.  Webber set the first of her two school records when she won the 100 Individual Medley with a time of 1:04.19, over 11 seconds ahead of her nearest competition.  In the 200 Breaststroke, Webber once again set a Hollins record with a time of 2:31.71.

Distance swimmer Dani Raymond (Fredericksburg, VA) continued her fantastic season with wins in the 1000 and 500 Freestyle events.  Raymond finished the season with a 13-2 record in the longest swims of the season.  Henke added a pair of first place finishes when the first-year picked up a half second win in the 50 Freestyle before coming back later in the afternoon to best the field in the 200 Butterfly.  Caulfeild-James added a win in the 100 Freestyle and finished right behind Henke in the 50 Freestyle while Schattgen added runner up finishes in the 200 Freestyle and the 200 Backstroke.

Hollins will have two weeks to train ahead of the opening day of the 2016 ODAC Swim Championships.  The three day event will begin on Friday, February 12th.  The schedule for each of the three days will consist of preliminary heats at 11:00am before the finals starting at 6:30pm.
