Southern Connecticut Leads Both Northeast-10 Championship Races

One night after two new records were set, another trio of conference marks were broken during the second day of the 2016 Northeast-10 Swimming and Diving Championships.

Southern Connecticut swimmers Raymond Cswerko, Katie Crochet and Brendan Murphy all set new conference records. Now midway through the four-day championship event, the Owls lead both the men’s and women’s standings.

Cswerko broke his own previous conference record of 1:49.51 in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:48.14. Murphy finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.07, a new NE-10 record. Crochet defended her 50-yard freestyle title with a time of 23.60, breaking the record that she set just last year.

The second day of competition featured five different events – one-meter diving, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, 50-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relays.

The NE-10 Championships continue on Saturday with the first session of the day set to begin at 10:15 a.m. The night session is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
