Texas A&M Sweeps The U, Incarnate Word

The No. 15 Texas A&M women’s swimming and diving team rolled to wins over Miami (Fla.) and Incarnate Word in double-dual competiton at the Student Recreation Natatorium on Friday.
 
The Aggies beat the Hurricanes, 162.5-128.5, and downed the Cardinals, 199-93. With the wins, the Aggies moved to 4-0 on the young season and moved their home winning streak to 11 straight dating back to 2013. Overall, the Aggies improved their unbeaten streak to 26 consecutive dual meets.
 
The Aggies opened and closed the meet with strong victories in the 400-yard medley relay and the 200 free relay, respectively.
 
In the 400 medley relay, the Aggies swept the top three spots with the foursome of sophomore Lisa Bratton, junior Sycerika McMahon, junior Sarah Gibson and freshman Lexie Lupton edging-out the team of senior Claire Brandt, sophomore Jorie Caneta, sophomore Béryl Gastaldello and senior Meredith Oliver by .48 of second, 3:41.05 to 3:41.53.  In the 200 free relay, the foursome of Brandt, senior Katherine Huff, sophomore Kristin Malone and Lupton touched first in a time of 1:33.91.
 
Leading the way individually for the Aggies was Gibson, who was the lone double-winner on the night. Gibson, from San Antonio, was victorious in the 200 free in 1:49.19 and took the win in the 500 free in 4:53.85.
 
Other Aggies logging victories were senior Colleen Konetzke in the 1,650 free (16:58.72), Bratton in the 100 back (54.44), McMahon in the 100 breast (1:01.48), Gastaldello in the 50 free (22.84), junior Madison Hudkins in the three-meter dive (362.35 points), Lupton in the 100 free (50.72), Brandt in the 200 back (1:58.36), sophomore Esther Gonzalez in the 200 breast (2:16.25) and sophomore Bethany Galat in the 200 IM (2:03.23).
