Westminster Men, Grove City Women Picked to Win PAC

The Westminster College men's swimming and diving program received four first-place votes to claim the top spot on the 2015-16 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Swimming and Diving Preseason Coaches' Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

The PAC announced the results of its preseason coaches' poll and its swimmers/divers to watch list Wednesday.

The Titans and 31st-year head coach Rob Klamut collected 33 of a possible 36 points to earn the top spot among the league's six men's programs. Klamut recently announced he will be stepping down as the head swimming and diving coach at the conclusion of the season to move into a full-time roll as the Major Gifts Officer in Westminster's Institutional Advancement department.

Westminster earned its sixth PAC last season after finishing as the runner-up in 2014. The Titans totaled 827.5 points over the three-day event. Westminster also captured league titles in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2013.

Grove City and 14th-year head coach Dave Fritz secured the final two first-place votes and totaled 29 points to earn the number two spot on the poll. The Wolverines were the runners-up last season after claiming their 18th PAC team title in 2014. 

Saint Vincent College finished third with 26 points, followed by Washington & Jefferson (20 pts.), Bethany College (11 pts.), and Chatham University (7 pts.).

Grove City will host the 2015-16 PAC Swimming and Diving Championships, which will take place Wednesday-Saturday, February 10-13. The conference championships will be held in conjunction with Grove City's 26th annual James E. Longnecker Swimming and Diving Invitational and 10th annual Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships at the James E. Longnecker Competition Pool. Longnecker Pool has been the home of the PAC swimming and diving championships since 1990.

 

PAC Women

The Grove City College women's swimming and diving program earned the top spot on the 2015-16 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Swimming and Diving Preseason Coaches' Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

The PAC announced the results of its preseason coaches' poll and its swimmers/divers to watch list Wednesday.

The Wolverines and 14th-year head coach Dave Fritz secured two of six first-place votes and collected 31 of an available 36 points to claim the top spot among the league's six women's programs.

Grove City swam to its seventh-straight PAC championship in 2015. The league title was Grove City's 13th since winning its first PAC crown in 1991. 

Westminster College claimed three first-place votes and totaled 30 points to secure the number two spot on the poll.

Saint Vincent College received the final first-place vote and a combined 25 points to finish third on the poll. Washington & Jefferson College posted 21 points to finish fourth, while Chatham University (10 pts.) and Bethany College (8 pts.) were picked to finish fifth and sixth, respectively. 

Grove City will host the 2015-16 PAC Swimming and Diving Championships, which will take place Wednesday-Saturday, February 10-13.
