Saint Francis Falls to Delaware, Georgetown

The Saint Francis swimming team, led by head coach Rory Coleman, completed its first meet of the 2015-16 season on Saturday.  The Red Flash fell 219-73 against Delaware and 209-82 vs. Georgetown.
 
One of the top Red Flash performers of the day was Emma Karell (Norrtlje, Sweden/Tby Swim Club).  The sophomore placed second in the 200-yard Butterfly with a time of 2:12.29.  Later in the meet, Karell finished third in the 200-yard Breaststroke with a pace of 2:29.04.
 
Fellow sophomore Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) earned a third place finish in the 500-yard Freestyle with a time of 5:15.82.  Lafferty also recorded a fifth place finish in the 1000-yard Freestyle, completing the event in 11:00.79.
 
In the 100-yard Breaststroke, senior Catherine Rogers (Nokesville, Va./Seton School) placed fourth with a time of 1:08.41.  Freshman Marisa Daly (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan) finished fourth in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:17.65. 
 
Junior Jessica Reilly earned a pair of Top 5 finishes.  She completed the 50-yard Freestyle in 25.29 to finish 4th.  In the 100-yard Freestyle, Reilly placed fifth with a pace of 55.28.
 
In the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, Saint Francis' team of Karell, Lafferty, Reilly and Rogers placed second, finishing the race in 3:41.38.  SFU's Amanda Crnic (Conway, Ark./Conway), Sara Dieterich (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot), Mary Kish (Glendale, Ariz./Bourgade Catholic) and Paige McLean (Bolton, Ontario/St. Michael Catholic Secondary) combined for a fourth place finish with a time of 3:49.79. 
 
In the 200-yard Medley Relay, Karell, Lafferty, Reilly and Rogers teamed up for a fourth place finish with a pace of 1:50.94.
 
The Red Flash are next in action when it hosts Saint Francis Brooklyn at Stokes Natatorium on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.
