Pacific (Ore.) Sweeps Lewis & Clark

The Boxers won their second-straight NWC dual meet on Saturday thanks to victories in seven individual events by the group of Raymond Miller (Fr., Portland, Ore.), Charles Morse (So., Forest Grove, Ore.), Jack Lloyd (Jr., Portland, Ore.) and Michael Sakai (Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii), to top the Pioneers 111-85 at the Zehntbauer Swimming Pavilion.
 
After finishing a little less than a second short of the Pioneers in the 200-yard medley relay, Miller outswam three Lewis & Clark competitors in the 1000-yard freestyle for a victory of over nine seconds.
 
Miller's teammates Morse and Patrick Daniels (So., Salem, Ore.) finished one-two in the 200-yard freestyle, respectively, earning Pacific 13 team points.
 
Lloyd continued his strong junior season with a victory in the 50-yard freestyle by over a full second. Two events after Lloyd's first individual victory, Miller secured his second of the afternoon with a 53.84 first place finish in the 100-yard butterfly.
 
The 100-yard freestyle saw Pacific finish first and second, as Lloyd won the event and James Michael Sherman (Fr., Portland, Ore.) touched the wall in second place.
 
In a display of Pacific's freestyle strength, Morse out touched Lewis & Clark's Trevor Schapiro in the 500-yard freestyle, before Sakai wrapped up individual competition for the Boxers with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke.
 
Pacific's afternoon ended with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay by Miller, Dylan Tohl (Fr., Tillamook, Ore.), Derek Dunn (Fr., Springfield, Ore.) and Spencer Chandler (Sr., Weiser, Idaho).
 
The Pacific men finish the dual season with back-to-back wins and a 3-5 overall record, while posting a 2-5 mark in NWC action. 
 
Pacific will return to the pool at the Osborn Aquatic Center in Corvallis, Ore., on Feb. 13 for the beginning of the NWC Championships.

 

Pacific won its fifth-straight dual with a 128-74 victory at Lewis & Clark, as Stacie Struble (Sr., Albany Ore.) joined Katie Porter (Sr., McMinnville, Ore.), Rachel Webster (So., Normandy Park, Wash.) and Amanda Clark (Sr., Olympia, Wash.) as individual winners for Pacific at the Zehntbauer Swimming Pavilion.
 
The Pacific relay side of Janae Sargent (Jr., Redding, Calif.), Webster, Struble and Colleen Murphy (Fr., Valdez, Alaska) cruised to victory in the 200-yard medley relay, opening the afternoon's meet with a victory of nearly 10 seconds.
 
Clark was the first individual winner for Pacific as she won the 1000-yard freestyle by over a minute. Melissa Lund (Sr., Roseburg, Ore.) finished third in the opening individual event of the day.
 
The 50-yard freestyle saw Porter win by nearly two seconds, before Webster earned a near three-second victory in the 200-yard individual medley.
 
Struble continued the strong afternoon for Pacific with a victory in the 100-yard butterfly, which saw Amber Chase (Sr., Tigard, Ore.) post a fourth place finish.
 
Porter cruised to a victory of over four seconds in the 100-yard freestyle, followed by Murphy's second place finish.
 
Clark picked up a 24-second victory in the 500-yard freestyle, while Lund and Katie Tougas (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished third and fourth, respectively.
 
The second victory of the day for Struble came in the 100-yard breaststroke, as Struble finished first ahead of Kayla Knock's (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) second place finish.
 
Pacific finished the day with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay by the group of Clark, Chase, Webster and Porter.

The women wrap the dual season with a 4-3 conference record having won five straight duals to finish 5-3 overall.

Pacific will return to the pool at the Osborn Aquatic Center in Corvallis, Ore., on Feb. 13 for the beginning of the NWC Championships.
