Westminster Sweeps Lewis & Clark, Occidental

The Westminster College men's and women's swimming & diving teams swept Occidental College and Lewis & Clark College in a double dual meet during the Titans' winter break trip.

The Titan men's team remain undefeated in dual meets with a 7-0 overall record, while the Titan women's team improve to 7-1.

The Westminster women's team won 134.00-127.00 over Occidental and won 205.00-56.00 over Lewis and Clark. The Westminster men's team won 151.50-109.50 over Occidental and 212.50-48.50 over Lewis & Clark.

Westminster clinched the victory over Occidental after winning the last three events. Senior Rebecca Mobley (Gibsonia, PA / Pine-Richland) won the 50 butterfly (her third victory of the day) with a time of 27.72. Junior Kelsey Reott (Butler, PA / Slippery Rock) followed with a first place in the 100 IM with a time of 1:05.72. The Titans won after a win in the 200 freestyle relay, the final event of the day. First-year Megan Douds (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park), senior Marina Rozick (Pittsburgh, PA / North Allegheny), senior Ashley Wyland (Pittsburgh, PA / Taylor Allderdice), and Mobley teamed up and touched first at 1:42.91.

The Titans also won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:54.57. The quartet included Reott, Mobley, sophomore Sam Tower (Export, PA / Franklin Regional), and sophomore Anne Tillie (Fallston, MD / Fallston).

Mobley also touched first in the 100 butterfly at 1:01.79, while Rozick also won the 50 backstroke with a time of 29.43.

For the men's team, freshman Mitch Stahara (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) won two individual events and was part of a winning relay. He won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:47.49 and the 500 freestyle at 4:54.41. He was also part of the 200 freestyle relay team that placed first at 1:31.11. Freshman Dan Bogen (Canfield, OH / Canfield), junior Max Hague (Canton, OH / Glenoak), and freshman Brad Kolesar (West Mifflin, PA / West Mifflin) completed the quartet.  Kolesar also touched first in the 100 butterfly at 53.51, while Hague won the 50 freestyle at 22.27.

Senior Steven Brooks (Boardman, OH / Boardman) won a pair of events as he won the 50 backstroke at 24.86 and the 100 backstroke at 53.13.

Senior Jake Pletz (Venetia, PA / Peters Township) won the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.57, while classmate Nicholas Smith (Indiana, PA / Indiana) won the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:07.25.

Westminster will next compete on Saturday, January 15 against Carnegie Mellon and SUNY Geneseo at Carnegie Mellon. The start time is set for 1 p.m.
