Seattle Announces Schedule

Craig Nisgor, head coach of the Seattle University men’s and women’s swim teams, has announced the competition schedule for the 2014-15 season.
 
The women’s swim team will start its season Friday, Oct. 10, facing Oregon State and Liberty University in Corvallis, Ore., beginning at 5 p.m. The next weekend, both teams welcome former Seattle U swimmers back to the Connolly Center Pool for the annual Alumni Meet Saturday, Oct. 18, beginning at 11 a.m.
 
The men’s swim team starts its regular season by hosting WAC foe Grand Canyon as well as Pac-12 member Arizona State on back-to-back days. The women will also take on Grand Canyon during those two meets, set to take place at the Connolly Center Friday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m.
 
The teams head east in early November, beginning with the women facing Washington State in Pullman, Wash., Friday, Nov. 7, at 5 p.m. The next day, the women’s swim team takes on Idaho, and both teams will face fellow conference member Bakersfield in Moscow, Idaho, Saturday, Nov. 8, starting at 12 p.m.
 
In early December, some Redhawks will make the cross country journey to Greensboro, N.C., for the Winter Nationals Dec. 4-6, while the rest will stay close to home for the Husky Invitational in Federal Way, Wash., Dec. 5-7. After fall quarter finals, the teams will head to Coronado, Calif., for winter training Dec. 14-19 before taking some time off for Christmas.
 
Once the team returns to competition, it will celebrate Senior Day Saturday, Jan. 10, when Whitworth University comes to the Connolly Center for a 1 p.m. dual meet. The next weekend, the Redhawks head to Colorado Springs, Colo., for two meets against Air Force, with the women also taking on Northern Colorado.
 
The final regular season competition sees the Redhawks renew its long-time rivalry with Simon Fraser University, with this meet taking place in Canada Saturday, Jan. 31, starting at 1 p.m. The teams will then prepare for the Western Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, once again taking place at the Palo Alto College Natatorium in San Antonio, Texas, Feb. 25-28.
 
Several members of the Redhawk swim program may participate in a sectional meet held at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash., March 12-15. The NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships will take place March 19-21 in Greensboro, N.C., while the men’s national championships are scheduled for March 26-28 in Iowa City, Iowa.
 
The Seattle University men’s and women’s swim teams are scheduled to report to campus Tuesday, Sept. 16, and will begin practice the next day to prepare for the upcoming season. The Redhawks welcome back 14 males and 16 females from last year’s squad that posted numerous marks into the program’s all-time top 10 lists.
