Patriot Invite Recaps - Day 3

Richmond

In the final day of the meet, the Spiders placed three swimmers in the finals of the first event of the day, the 1650 Free. Senior Meredith Gouger (Cockeysville, Maryland) tied for Richmond’s high scorer of the day with 16 points after a third-place finish in the event. Junior teammate Emma Terwilliger (Niskayna, New York) finished three seconds behind in fourth and junior Molly McSweeney (Stoneham, Massachusetts) was seventh.
 
Freshman Annie Lane (Vinton, Virginia / William Byrd HS) scored 14 points for a fifth-place finish in the 100 Free, with junior Melissa Ross (Warrington, Pennsylvania) taking third for 16 more points for the Spiders in the 200 Fly for the last individual event of the evening.
 
Other scoring swimmers for the final day included Hannah Verrette (Marblehead, Massachusetts) in the 200 Back, Hailey Bivens (Roanoke, Virginia / Cave Spring HS) and Kelley Yang (Ellicott City, Maryland) in the 100 Free, Erin Barry (Millington, New Jersey) in the 200 Breast, senior Allison Titley (Richmond, Virginia / Saint Gertrude) and freshman Natalie Dowzicky (Collegeville, Pennsylvania) in the 200 Fly.
 
The Spiders added 26 points by virtue of a sixth-place finish in the 400 Free relay, with another foursome collecting four more points with a 15th place finish, to close out the meet.
 
The diving squad had Saturday off after posting individual wins for sophomore Irina Chiulli (Westwood, Massachusetts) in both the 3m and 1m boards.
 
This was Richmond’s last team competition of the semester. The Spider divers will next compete at the Tennessee Diving Invitational starting January 3, while the team gets together for a dual meet at Virginia Tech on January 10.
