University of Louisville Swimming and Diving head coach Arthur Albiero announced the addition of Venezuelan National Record Holder, Carlos Claverie, to the fall 2014 recruiting class. Claverie will join Todd Owen, Thomas Cooper, and Jonathan Zoucha in this class.
“Adding Carlos to this already strong class is exciting. He brings a large amount of experience in the arena of international competition. That experience should pay immediate dividends for him at the NCAA level,” said Albiero.
Claverie, a member of the Venezuelan National Team, is an accomplished breaststroker. His best performances include 1:01.88 in the 100 long-course meter (LCM) breaststroke event, and 2:14.07 in the 200 LCM breaststroke, which is a Venezuelan national record. Claverie represented his home country at the 2011 Pan-American Games, the 2013 World Championships, and the 2013 Junior World Championships where he was a finalist in the 100-breaststroke. His next stop will be at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China later this summer.
