N.C. State head swimming & diving coach Braden Holloway announced the Wolfpack’s 2014-15 schedule Thursday, which will feature three home meets at the Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center.
“We’re pleased with our competitive schedule for this upcoming season and feel that this schedule will prepare us well for the championship season in February and March,” Holloway said.
For the third consecutive season, the Pack will kick-off the campaign by hosting the All-North Carolina Invitational Oct. 3-4 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. The Wolfpack has placed first on the men’s and women’s side during each of the first two years of the event.
Several members of the women’s team will travel to the Dallas Morning Classic hosted by Southern Methodist University in Dallas Oct. 17-18, while the remainder of the squad will open the home portion of the schedule against Georgia Saturday, Oct. 18.
“We’re excited about our women’s team traveling to Dallas to participate in the Dallas Morning Classic hosted by SMU,” Holloway said. “It’s a storied meet and we’re pleased to head south.”
The Pack will open ACC competition on Oct. 25 in Atlanta, Ga., in a tri-meet against Florida State and Georgia Tech, before competing at Virginia on Nov. 15. State will also compete in the Nike Cup Invitational hosted by UNC, Nov. 20-22.
“We have some big road contests with our trip to Atlanta to take on FSU and Georgia Tech as well as heading to Charlottesville, Va., to battle UVa,” Holloway stated.
The divers will open the 2014 portion of the schedule Jan. 3-5 at the Tennessee Diving Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn., before the squad travels to compete against Princeton on Jan. 9 and Villanova Jan. 10.
“We’re also making a trip to compete against Princeton and Villanova, which adds some new faces to the schedule,” Holloway added.
State will welcome Minnesota to Raleigh for a two-day competition Jan. 23 and 24, before closing out the home portion of its schedule against North Carolina on Jan. 31.
“We don't have many home meets, but the ones we have are going to be very intense with powerhouses such as Georgia from the SEC and Minnesota from the Big Ten coming to town,” Holloway said. “We also have in-state rival UNC to finish, which is always a great way to end the regular season.”
The ACC Championships will be held in Atlanta, Ga., with the women’s swimming along with the men’s and women’s diving taking place Feb. 18-21, and men’s swimming slated for Feb. 25-28.
The 2015 Women’s NCAA Championships from March 19-21 will be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. The men’s championships will be held in Iowa City, Iowa, March 26-28.
