Western Kentucky Sweeps Florida Atlantic

The Western Kentucky University swimming and diving team opened 2014 with a dominating performance against Florida Atlantic, as the women won 155-88 and the men won by a score 132-105.
 
Individually, WKU won 13 events while notching the fastest time in each of the four relays. Heitor Rodrigues and Aymeric Le Corno were double winners for the Hilltoppers, as Rodrigues took the top spot in the 50 free (20.95) and 100 fly (48.67) and Le Corno in the 1000 free (9:36.11) and 500 free (4:38.81)
 
For the women, in the 200 IM, WKU recorded the top four times with Nadine Laemmler going first in 2:07.70. Natalie Lenderman placed first in the 100 free, hitting the wall in 53.54.
 
Allie Duff stopped the clock in 57.41 in the 100 back for first while Ashley Forsyth finished first in the 500 free at 5:02.98. In the 100 breast, Claire Conlon placed first after going 1:04.50 in the event.
 
On the men’s side, WKU took the top-three spots in the 200 IM with Fabian Schwingenschloegl taking first in 1:54.31. Another 1-2-3 finish for the Hilltoppers came in the 100 free, as Cody Reul (47.37), Richard Russell (47.52) and Neal Rushing (48.24) took the top times. Seth Musser tabbed a first-place time of 50.21 in the 100 back.
 
On the diving boards, Amy Crayne tabbed a first-place score of 249.35 on the one meter. Crayne finished second in the three meter with a score of 251.65 while Madison Rylee (208.75) and Alexandra Mata (185.95) took third and fourth, respectively.
 
Giorgi Meyer placed third on the one-meter board with a score of 266.60 while Zach Batus took sixth after receiving an evaluation of 211.35.
 
WKU has one more regular-season meet on Jan. 24-25 against a trio of opponents starting at 5 p.m. CT on Friday and 1 p.m. CT on Saturday at Bill Powell Natatorium.
