Oberlin Sweeps Allegheny

The Oberlin College swimming and diving teams traveled to Allegheny College for a dual meet as both the Yeomen and Yeowomen came away with a team victory.
 
The Yeowomen won their side, 187-109, as the Yeomen knocked off the Gators, 158-109.
 
The day got started with 400-yard medley relay, which both Oberlin teams won. The team of Lauren Wong, Deirdre Haren, Vera Hutchison, and Jillian Sarazen touched in at 4:11.56. On the men's side Marshall Waller, Jack Redell, Luke Harrison, and Nils Gudbranson combined to clock a time of 3:45.37.
 
Samma Regan and Ellen Drake collected a one-two finish for the Yeowomen in the 1650. Regan clocked an 18:44.46 and Drake stopped the clock at 18:59.24.
 
In the men's 1650, Chris Ayoub finished second with a time of 17:46.34 and Liam Oznowich finished third with a time of 18:10.50.
 
The duo of Nora Cooper and Hutchison collected another one-two finish for Oberlin, this time in the 200 free. Cooper won with a time of 2:03.66 and Hutchison was right behind her with a time of 2:04.57.
 
On the men's side, Chris pickens finished runner-up in the 200 free with a time of 1:50.22 and Isaac Bacon collected a third-place finish with a time of 1:56.09.
 
The Yeowomen earned a one-two-three finish in the 100-yard back thanks to Wong, Kathleen Falk, and Olivia Degitz. Wong earned the win in a time 1:03.40, Falk clocked a 1:05.03, and Degitz touched right behind her at 1:05.75.
 
Waller and Ben Shepherd finished tops in the 100 back, clocking a 55.16 and 57.82 respectively.
 
Reagan collected a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.52.
 
Hutchison, a first-year, continued her impressive day with a victory in the 200 butterfly, clocking a 2:14.14. On the men's side, Harrison finished third in a time of 2:11.96.
 
Katie Dunn and Haren finished first and second respectively in the 50 freestyle as Dunn clocked a 25.58 and Haren a 25.97.
 
First-year Gudbranson finished second in the 50-yard free with a 22.53 and classmate Adam Winikoff was third in 23.08.
 
In the 1-meter diving, the Yeomen collected a sweep as Shane Lonergan, Rhys Hertafeld, and Max Bernstein finished one-two-three.
 
Coming out of the diving break, the Yeowomen continued to impress with a one-two-three finish in the 100-yard freestyle. Sarazen clocked a 56.15, Lauren Choban stopped the clock at 56.76, and Dunn was third with a 56.87.
 
Pickens picked up a third place finish in the 100 free with a time of 51.39.
 
Wong won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:14.41 and Falk finished third in 2:20.66.
 
In the men's 200 back, Waller finished first with a 2:04.42 and Shepherd was second with a time of 2:06.30.
 
The Yeowomen picked up a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke thanks to Allison Susin, who clocked a 2:38.67.
 
Maddie Prangley and Cooper recorded a one-two finish in the 500 free, with times of 5:25.71 and 5:31.38 respectively. On the men's side, Pickens and Ayoub picked up the one-two finish with times of 5:06.05 and 5:06.63 respectively.
 
Another sweep came the Yeowomen's way in the 100 butterfly, courtesy of Hutchison, Liora Mael, and Choban. Hutchison clocked a 1:01.75, Mael a 1:03.79, and Choban a 1:04.02.
 
Waller stopped the clock on the men's side at 55.02 for the victory. Harrison was third with a time of 57.58.
 
The Yeomen again swept the diving, this time at the 3-meter height. Hertafeld finshed first, Lonergan second, and Bernstein was third.
 
Wong capped off her day with another victory, this time in the 400 IM with a time of 4:54.61. Susin was second with a time of 5:00.47.
 
Ayoub picked up a second place finish in the 400 IM, stopping the clock at 4:32.82.
 
In the 200 freestyle relay, the Yeowomen 'A' team of Sarazen, Haren, Degitz, and Dunn won with a time of 1:43.56. The 'B' team of Regan, Sarah Kahl, Marissa Buckley, and Cooper finished second in 1:46.44.
 
The Yeomen 'A' team of Redell, Pickens, Winikoff, and Gudbranson collected a second-place finish with a time of 1:31.50 and the 'B' team of Harrison, Kurt Pianka, Rob McConkey, and Bacon finished third in 1:39.35.
 
Oberlin will be in action this Friday evening as they host their final home event of the season when the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern come to town for a 6 p.m. start in Carr Pool.
