Mountain West Announces Weekly Award Winners

Air Force sophomore Genevieve Miller and Wyoming junior Molly Coonce have been named Mountain West Co-Swimmers of the Week, while Boise State sophomore Jordan Marthens has earned MW Women’s Diver of the Week honors for competition from November 24-December 15, 2014. It is the second Mountain West weekly accolade for Miller in her career and the first for Coonce. It is the first honor of Marthens’ career.
 
WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
GENEVIEVE MILLER, AIR FORCE
Sophomore, Winston-Salem, N.C. / The Bolles School
·         Competed in the AT&T USA Swimming Nationals in Greensboro, N.C. on December 4-6, placing 11th in the team standings.

·         Posted an Air Force record time of 16:17.20 in the 1,650-yard freestyle, while placing ninth in the event. The mark is an NCAA ‘B’ time and currently ranks first in the Mountain West, 22nd in the nation.

·         Recorded a time of 4:44.41 in the 500-yard freestyle which ranks second in the league, placing 18th in the event.

·         Swam the third leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay event, in which the Falcons finished 16th overall with a time of 3:25.91, currently sixth in the MW.

 
MOLLY COONCE, WYOMING
Junior, Batavia, Ill. / Rosary HS
·         Competed in the Texas Invitational from December 4-6 in Austin.

·         Posted NCAA ‘B’ cut times in two butterfly events. Both marks are personal-bests.

·         Her qualifying mark of 1:59.42 in the 200-yard fly currently ranks first in the Mountain West, and placed 11th at the meet.

·         Finished tenth in the 100-yard fly with the Wyoming record time of 53.33. It is also an NCAA qualifying mark and currently ranks second in the conference.

·         Swam the third leg on the 400-yard medley relay team that placed 11th at the meet with a time of 3:41.57. That mark currently ranks second in the MW.

 
WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
JORDAN MARTHENS, BOISE STATE
Sophomore, Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. / Trabuco Hills HS
·         Competed at the Jean Freeman Invitational on December 5-6 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

·         Placed fourth on the platform with an NCAA-qualifying mark of 230.75, currently the top score in the Mountain West in the event.

·         Finished fifth in the 1-meter springboard event with a score of 240.50.
