LSU's Sthamann Wins 1M at LSU Diving Invite

Freshman Madison Sthamann notched her second win of the LSU Diving Invitational with a score of 271.05 on one-meter Tuesday afternoon at the LSU Natatorium.
 
“Madison’s performance on both springboard events will surely boost her confidence going forward,” LSU Diving coach Doug Shaffer said. “Today’s one-meter competition was a battle between Madison and Allie (Alter). I’m proud of how well they competed.”
 
Sthamann earned her third win of the year and junior Allie Alter followed in second place with a score of 267. Sophomore Katie Lagarde also finished in seventh place with a score of 228.90.
 
On the men’s side, Daniel Helm finished third on three-meter (336.10) and Andrew Suchla finished fourth (331.60).
 
At the USA Diving Winter Championships, Alex Bettridge competed in the semifinal of one-meter where she finished 17th with a score of 241.10.
 
“Alex had a very solid on one-meter,” Geyer added. “She needed to be a bit sharper for any opportunity to make finals. Both Alex and Cassie (Weil) are looking forward to tomorrow’s platform event.”
 
LSU, Alabama and Auburn will conclude the diving invite on platform tomorrow at 11 a.m. Bettridge and Cassie Weil will compete in the quarterfinal and semifinal of platform beginning at 12 p.m.
