Jordan Wolfrum has been named assistant coach for the Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team, head coach Bill Dorenkott announced today. Wolfrum replaces Liz Hinkleman, who spent the last two seasons with the Scarlet and Gray.“We have been blessed at Ohio State to have dynamic female role models to guide our student-athletes.” said Dorenkott. “Liz did a tremendous job of serving our university and program. She is a selfless individual who has a knack for making those around her better. We wish her well in her future endeavors.”
During her two seasons in Columbus, Hinkleman was instrumental in all aspects of the Buckeye program. She helped Ohio State to success both inside and outside of the pool, including back-to-back top-four finishes at the Big Ten Championships and a team grade-point average of 3.38 last fall. To conclude the 2013-14 season, Ohio State sent nine swimmers to the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis.
“Working at The Ohio State University has been a privilege, and I thank both Bill and the administration for this amazing experience,” said Hinkleman. “Although Ohio State will always hold a special place in my heart, I have decided to pursue opportunities outside of coaching. I have full confidence that our tradition of excellence will continue with the addition of Jordan.”
Wolfrum comes to Ohio State with an extensive coaching background, including serving last season as a volunteer assistant coach at Stanford University. Wolfrum worked extensively with the breaststrokers, including junior Katie Olsen, who finished second in the 200 breaststroke and fifth in the 100 breaststroke at the NCAA Championships, and sophomore Sara Haase, who finished 10th in the 100. As a team, the Cardinal finished as the national runner-up, broke numerous school records and set the American/US Open and NCAA record in the 400 medley relay.

“I am so looking forward to joining the Buckeye family,” said Wolfrum. “I have immense respect for Coach Dorenkott as a coach and as a team leader. I am very excited join him and to bring my passion and excitement to the pool deck. I believe that together we can lead the Buckeyes to a Big Ten Championship and NCAA honors.”

Prior to Stanford, Wolfrum was the head swimming and diving coach at the College of Saint Benedict in Collegeville, Minn. She spent a total of four years at Saint Benedict’s, taking over as head coach in 2012-13 after serving for three years as an assistant coach.
She helped the Blazers to a fourth place finish at the 2012 MIAC Championships, narrowly missing a top-three tally. In her time at Saint Benedict, she has coached 11 All-MIAC Athletes, including a team record eight in 2012-13.
She has also spent the last five years on the staff of the Stanford University Swim Camp, working with elite level athletes. Wolfrum is a member of the College Swim Coaches Association of America and the United States Swimming Association.
“We were drawn to Jordan based on her human qualities,” said Dorenkott. “She has a professional demeanor yet connected easily with our team. And, Jordan did not blink when we shared the high expectations that go along with being a part of The Ohio State University.”
She competed collegiately at St. Cloud State, captaining the Huskies her final two seasons, and helping them to a Northern Sun Swimming Championship in her senior year. Also a member of the great North Central Conference (NCC), Wolfrum was a member NCC Commissioners Academic Honor Roll during her career.
She graduated in 2009 from St. Cloud State with a degree in mathematics with a minor in statistics.
