Wright State Wins Four of Five Against Butler, St. Louis, Xavier

The Wright State swimming and diving teams picked up four wins in their season opener Sunday at Fishers High School near Indianapolis.  The men defeated Xavier 145-88 and Saint Louis 158-79 while the women won over Xavier 108-102 and Butler 141-69 and fell to Saint Louis 113.5-99.5.

First-place finishers for the Raider men were Clement Quilliec in the 400 individual medley and 200 breast, Nathan Meyer in one meter diving, Jeff Ross in the 200 fly, Matt Dassow in the 500 free and Nick Ponce in three meter diving.  The 400 medley relay team of Kile Aukerman, Quilliec, Merritt Sparks and Alfred Pappe was also victorious.

On the women's side, Kortney Mullen placed first in the 200 free while Samantha TenEyck won in one meter and three meter diving and Samantha Miller in the 100 free.  The 400 medley relay team of Kristen Hayhow, Kayla Fearrin, Emily Hayhow and Miller won as did the 400 free relay team of Kortney Mullen, Melissa Woody, Nicole Holtkamp and Miller.

The wins were the first in the career of new WSU head coach Kyle Oaks.

Wright State returns to action on Friday, October 4, with a dual meet at Valparaiso starting at 6:00 Eastern.
