Queens Sweeps Brenau, Converse

The Queens University of Charlotte women’s swim team took on Converse College and Brenau University this evening at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center. The Royals jumped out to an early lead, and never looked back as they continued to pile up impressive swims.

Freshman Meridith Boudreaux started off the individual swims with a first place finish in the 1000 freestyle, and picked up a NCAA B-cut time of 10:30:32.  Building on the hot start was a one-two finish in the 200 freestyle by Lillian Gordy and Tess Pena. Lauren Mock was next up and placed first in the always exciting 50 freestyle with a 24.87.

In the next three races the Royals finished both first and second, demonstrating their impressive depth. In the 200 yard IM Caroline Arakelian finished first with a B-cut time of 2:06.30 and was followed closely by Tessa Pena. In the 100 butterfly Maddy Wallman touched the wall just ahead of Monica Milici, and Gordy won the 100 freestyle just ahead of Fallon Kelley.

The Royals continued to rack up wins as Wallmon picked up the final official first place in the 100 backstroke. Queens finished up the meet with strong swims by Arakelian, Boudreaux, Emma Durante, and Milici.

The Royals return to the pool November 2-3 in the Fall Frenzy hosted by Wingate University.
