Grove City Sweeps Washington & Jefferson

The Washington & Jefferson College men’s and women’s swimming and diving squads were swept in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference dual meet on Saturday afternoon.  The GCC men recorded a 154-125 triumph, while the Wolverine women garnered a 148-141 win. 
 
The W&J women had five individual winners led by sophomore Bethany Haver (Akron, Ohio/Harvey S. Firestone), who claimed both diving events.  She racked up 255.95 points on the 1-meter board and qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships for the second-straight meet.  She then collected 245.15 points on the 3-meter board. 
 
Sophomore Katie Steider (Cochranton, Pa./Meadville) placed first in the 100 backstroke, while freshman Katlin Dagg (Mentor, Ohio/Hawken) touched first in the 200 butterfly (2:14.70).  
 
Sophomores Brittany Vogel (Butler, Pa./Butler) and C.J. Corcoran (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) earned the only other W&J wins.  Vogel recorded a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:15.29) and Corcoran won the 100 butterfly (1:01.96). 
 
The Washington & Jefferson men fell to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the PAC, while the women’s record dropped to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
