Grove City Sweeps Westminster in PAC Showdown

In their final home meet of the season, the Westminster men's and women's swimming and diving teams lost to Grove City in a dual meet between the only two men's teams and women's teams with undefeated Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) records. The Titans men lost 171-126 and the Titan women lost 176-121.

Westminster's men's team is now 5-3 on the season and 2-1 in the PAC, while Grove City's men's team improves to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the league. Westminster's women's team is now 6-3 overall and 3-1 in the PAC, while Grove City's women's team ups its records to 12-1 overall and 3-0 on the conference.

The Titans captured 13 events (6 women's, 7 men's) including the men winning two relays, the 400-yard medley (3:32.76) and the 400 freestyle (3:16.61).

Senior freestyler Emily Dressler (Hummelstown, Pa./Mount Calvary Christian) won three events for Westminster's women's team, the 200 (1:57.21), 500 (5:13.31) and 1,000 (10:49.31) freestyles.

Sophomore Caitlin Lehberger (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) captured two events, the 50 freestyle (25.00) and the 200 individual medley (2:11.42), while junior Courtney Herdt (Beaver Falls, Pa./Beaver Falls) touched first in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.15) to round out the Titan women's other event winners.

On the men's side, senior Ben Gutmann (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) won two individual events, the 100 (59.43) and 200 (2:10.99) breaststrokes, in addition to swimming a leg of the 400 medley relay.

Sophomore Mike Barringer (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) triumphed the 100 butterfly (52.91), as did freshman Alan Nedley (White, Pa./Connellsville) in the 200 butterfly (1:57.56) and junior Devin Gannon (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) in the 200 backstroke (1:57.73). Barringer swam on the both the winning 400 freestyle and 400 medley relay teams, while Nedley assisted on the 400 medley relay win.

Westminster will travel to Mount Union for its final dual meet of the season on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
