Head Coach, Women's Swimming

Mindy Williams joined Connecticut College as the associate head coach of the women’s swimming program in October 2021. She brings 18 years of Division III collegiate coaching experience, during which each of her teams underwent tremendous growth. Prior to her appointment at Conn, Williams served as the head women’s swimming & diving coach at Simmons University. During her tenure at Simmons, she led the team to 12 consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference titles and two New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Championships. The program also qualified athletes for the NCAA Championship in 2018, 2019, and 2020, ranking as high as 26th in 2018. During her time at Simmons, Williams was named GNAC Coach of the Year on eight different occasions. She also earned the Charles Silvia Swimming Coach of the Year distinction within the NEISDA in 2014, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Prior to her 13-year coaching career at Simmons, Williams was the head swimming coach at Regis College from 2004-08, where she coached their women’s team and started their first-ever men’s swimming & diving program in 2007 when the College transitioned from an all-women’s institution to a co-ed school. Williams started her career in 2003 as the assistant swimming coach and assistant water polo coach at Macalester College. A native of Essex Junction, Vermont, Williams graduated from Colby College in 2003. She captained the team her senior year and qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships in 2000 and 2003 in the 1,650, 500 free, and 400 IM. As an alumna, Williams was honored with Colby’s Carl Nelson Sports Achievement Award in 2021 as someone who has distinguished herself within athletics in the years following graduation. Williams is an active member of the US Masters Swimming. She holds 11 New England records and has earned All-America honors 14 times since 2016.

Head Coach, Men's Swimming

Marc Benvenuti enters his 15th season as the head coach and director of the Connecticut College aquatics program. Under Benvenuti's direction, the Camel men's and women's programs have flourished with each club contending and pushing the elite programs for NESCAC supremacy. Under Benvenuti's direction, the Camel men have finished among the nation's top 25 in each of the past six seasons, including a program best 12th place showing at the 2014 NCAA Championship. The Camel women have finished in the Top 16 at NCAA Championships 2 of the last 3 years in addition to a 14th place finish in 2011. Benvenuti has been honored as the NESCAC Swimming Coach of the Year on five occasions, three times for the success of the women's program and twice with the men. Benvenuti joined the Connecticut College program after serving as the lead assistant swim coach at Princeton University. At Princeton, he was responsible for the sprint program and contributed to a Tiger squad that posted a lofty 17-2 (.894) mark in the Ivy League. Four of his swimmers advanced to the NCAA Championships and one qualified for Olympic competition in Sydney, Australia. Benvenuti earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Environmental Studies from Tufts University. As one of the Jumbo's most successful swimmers, Benvenuti set many pool records and still holds a number of them today, including the 50 yard Butterfly and the 200 yard Medley Relay. A five time All-America selection at Tufts, Benvenuti has already left his mark as one of the top swimmers in NESCAC conference history.
