Shane Bonner has been a part of Ridley Swimming and Diving for almost 20 years - first as a fan and younger brother, and then beginning as a student-athlete in 2007. He was a four year varsity swimmer and captain during his senior year. He graduated in 2011 as an Academic All-American and the record holder in the 50 and 100 freestyles. He was also a district medalist and state qualifier in the 50 freestyle.
Bonner was a four-year swimmer at York College of Pennsylvania. He was a two year captain, and in multiple years was named Academic-All Conference and All-Conference. He was recently named to the 2010 All-Decade team for York. He graduated in 2015 with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics.
Bonner joined the coaching staff as a volunteer in 2015. He had previously been the assistant and then head coach of Nassau Swim Club from 2011-2013. Ahead of the 2022 season, he was promoted to a full time assistant coach and before the 2023 season was named Head Coach for the Girls Swimming & Diving team.
Outside of swimming and diving, Bonner works as a Technical Lead at Vanguard where he is responsible for building software as well as mentoring less experienced software engineers.
Coach Bonner and his wife, Jenn, live in Ridley Township with their dog Charlie.
