Kelsey Bishop (formerly Leeson) is in her 5th season with the Nanooks serving as Assistant Coach for the 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and 2022-2023 seasons and interim Head coach for the 2021-2022 season.
Prior to coaching, Bishop was a four-year member of the St. Cloud State University women's swim team from 2012-16. Most notably a freestyle swimmer, Bishop competed individually in the 50-, 100- and 200-yard freestyle events, while also swimming in the 200- and 400-yard medley relays and also the 200-, 400- and 800-yard freestyle relay events.
While with the Huskies, Bishop was a three-time NCAA Swimming and Diving National Championship qualifier, earning All-America status twice in the 200 medley relay (2013, 2015), while also earning All-America Honorable Mention honors in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2013), the 400-yard medley relay (2014, 2015) and the 200-yard medley relay (2014).
Additionally, Bishop is an eight-time individual Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference champion in five different events, earning the team title in both 2013 and 2014 with the Huskies. Bishop also placed within the top-eight 15 times in eight different events. She still holds the school record in the 400-yard medley relay.
In the classroom, Bishop was an NSISC Academic All-American in 2015 and earned the NCAA Continuation Scholarship following her senior season in 2016. Bishop graduated with a bachelor's of science degree in biomedical studies with a minor in psychology from St. Cloud State University in 2017.
