Recruiting information

"High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation." Wildcat Questionnaire Click Here

The Wildcat staff is committed towards considering incoming student-athletes from a variety of experience levels within the sport of swimming and diving. Our main priority is bringing together quality people who are willing to find joy in creating something special together during their four year student-athlete experience and beyond. We pride ourselves on student-athletes continuously growing in and out of the pool, with many of our student-athletes going lifetime best performances throughout their four years within the program.

Over the last several years, the Wildcats have put together the most successful 4-year period in program history with 3 MIAC Championships, 4 Swimmer of the Year Awards, 4 Coaching Staff of the Year Awards, 3 top 20 NCAA Finishes, 1 NCAA Champion, and 1 NCAA Record. The group has amased over 40+ All-America Awards and continues to have student-athletes within the program who are capable of competing at the NCAA Championships. If you are interested in seeing some of the progress of our student-athletes, please let Coach Eckberg know when speaking with him as he keeps this information readily available.

Academically, the program is one of the top performing teams in the NCAA with a 4-year average GPA of approximately 3.75. Over the last several years we have had an NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee and 4x Conference Athlete of the Year. We have one of the highest averages in lifetime best performances at our conference championships amongst top 50 programs within DIII, with a 65%!!

We are striving to bring together student-athletes from around the country who value the following:

  • A love for the daily process of striving towards doing better and learning how to possess a growth mindset towards all aspects of life! We strongly believe in teaching how to love oneself through the sport of swimming by valuing growth over perfection within all aspects of our program.
  • A love for competing. We are much more interested in student-athletes who value competing day in and day out within the program. We believe learning to embrace the aspects of life which require competing are a valuable skillset for future success. Competition does not need to be an unkind or unwelcome experience.
  • A love for the program. We are interested in those who are invested in not only their own success, but the success of the program in the short and long-term. We must be committed to one another, this includes our coaching staff, support staff, and student-athletes. We do not believe in sacrificing, we believe in investing in one another.
  • A love for learning. The student-athlete experience in college in a learning experience for all of those involved and can be an incredibly memorable one for those who choose to invest in learning about themselves and their teammates. This requires being vulnerable and open to change not only in the pool, but the classroom and other areas of life.

If you believe St. Catherine University and our swim program might be a fit for you, please fill out the recruiting questionnaire at the top of this page and also consider emailing Co-Head Coach, Dan Eckberg at dheckberg535@stkate.edu
