Michael Kokoszka joins the Hunter head coaching ranks after spending the past six seasons as an assistant coach for the Hawks. Since his first year in 2011 Kokoszka has supported the head coaches in day to day operations, recruiting, NCAA compliance and travel, while guiding the Purple and Gold to three CUNYAC championships over the past three years.
Under his tenure as an assistant he has coached 41 CUNYAC All Stars and broken 12 school records through individualized stroke instruction.
Over the past six seasons the Hunter swim program has become a dynasty in the CUNY Athletic Conference, posting a league winning percentage of .914, including undefeated records for the past three years under Kokoszka’s guidance. In 2016 he was named a CollegeSwimming.com Assistant Coach of the Year finalist for his contributions to the Hawk team.
Prior to Hunter he spent two years as an assistant swim coach at the Cross Island YMCA, mentoring and preparing New York State YMCA champions and YMCA national level qualifiers.
Kokoszka graduated from Columbia University in 2009 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering where he was a member of the NCAA Division I lightweight rowing team. He was also a competitive triathlete, becoming the Ivy League Champion of the New York City Triathlon in 2009.
