Southern Virginia University Swimming is based on five key values. We are Faithful (Responsible), Honest, Kind, Diligent, and Fun. We are looking for student athletes who will commit to live these values and help their teammates to live them as well. Those student athletes who are comitted to graduating while uplifting their teammates by competing in the sport they love, will thrive here.
In our very first season, 2019, all of our swimmers had 100% lifetime best times at 2019 Capital Athletic Conference Championships. We are now in the USA South conference as a school. Since there are not enough schools with swim teams in USA South Conference we compete with those same schools in the Independent South Conference meet. Swimmers consistently continue to get lifetime best times in their best events. Often we ask swimmers to branch out to new events as well. Their courage and consistency is rewarded because by strengthening the team they are stronger as well. By taking one look at our school records you will see that fast swimmers have been willing to come here and they have gotten faster while swimming here. If you are faster than our current school records, I say, COME! It is time to take swimmers to DIII Nationals and you might be just one to make school history by doing that!
While most (75% or so) of our students come from backgrounds in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we welcome all student athletes who are willing to live our values. We have a safe, fun environment of inclusion and fast swimming. I'd love to talk more with you to find out if you could be a good fit here.
