Head Coach

He spent the 2019-20 season as an assistant coach for the Prairie Wolves swimming programs serving under Head Coach Greg Fleming who retired at the end of the year. While working as an assistant, Hunt was instrumental in practice planning, training and recruiting. Hunt came to NWU after serving as the head swimming coach at Lincoln Northeast High School from 2004-19. As head coach at Lincoln Northeast, his swimmers and divers broke 30 school records and he coached three state champions, four All-Americans and was named the 2015 Nebraska Swimming Coach of the Year. He also had numerous Academic All-State and Academic All-Conference recipients. In addition to his duties as head coach at Lincoln Northeast, Hunt was also the head swimming coach for Club Husker Swimming from 2014-19. Hunt started coaching Club swimming in 1996 was a two-time Midwestern Swimming Head All-Star coach, a two-time Midwestern Swimming Head Zone Coach and Midwestern Swimming Coach of the Year nominee. During his 24-year coaching career, Hunt has coached, trained and produced 116 All-Star, Central Zone and Region 8 Sectional qualifiers, three state champions, two NCAA II champions and Olympic Trials qualifiers in 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016. A graduate of Lincoln East High School, Hunt swam for Hall of fame coach Greg Fleming during his prep career with the Spartans program. Hunt earned a bachelor’s degree in Historical Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2002
