Alex Lewis

Head Coach

Alex Lewis goes into his first season at the helm of the Mercy Healthplex Seawolves. He was previously the Head Site Coach at the Xavier Site SeaWolves for three years. He was also the Assistant Coach for Xavier University, and the Head Coach of Clinton Hills Swim Club. Lewis has been involved in swimming for 12 years. He swam for New Richmond High School, from 2006-2010, where he was a two time state qualifier, District Champion, and four year letterwinner. While in high school, Lewis swam for the Anderson Barracudas Club Team and was a three time YMCA Nationals Qualifier. Lewis then went on to swim at Cleveland State University (2010-2014) where he was a four-year letterwinner and record holder in multiple events. He swam under Head Coach Wally Morton and Assistant Coaches Kevin Rapien and Kate Inozemtseva. Lewis was the first swimmer in Cleveland State history to break the 20 second barrier (19.56) in the 50-yard Freestyle. After college, Lewis began coaching for Seawolves, where he helped grow the site by over 50% through three years and helped coach their first two sectional qualifiers. While at Xavier University, he helped the men's team win three consecutive Big East Championships and the Women to their highest finish in school history at third. Lewis earned his bachelor's degree in Sociology and Criminology from Cleveland State University in 2014. His hometown is New Richmond, Ohio. In the Winter of 2015, Lewis was inducted into the New Richmond High School Sports Hall of Fame.
