Lanza, Molnar National Swimmers-of-the-Week, Tixler & Ives Make History

Lisa Tixier and Carolyn Ives became the first swimmers to earn National College Swimmer-of-the-Week in different Divisions.   Biola's Tixler earned her fourth National Award, but first Division II award.   Biola previously competed in the NAIA.  Loyola (LA)'s Ives was named Swimmer-of-the-Week for the first time since December 8, 2015 when she swam for South Georgia College (NJCAA).

For the second week in a row, Indiana earns another National Award. Vinny Lanza grabbed three victories in the 100 fly, 200 fly, and 200 IM, earning him the Men’s Division I National Award. Flora Molnar of Alabama earned the Women’s Division I National Award after sweeping the sprint free events and adding a win in the 100 fly.

Mid Major awards go to Mason Tittle of UC-Santa Barbara and Bailey Andison of Denver. Tittle also swept the sprint freestyles in dual meets against both Cal Poly on the 28th and Hawaii on the 29th. Denver’s Andison had a busy weekend swimming six times in 3 different dual meets leading Denver to 3 wins.

This week’s National winners for Division II are Nick Arakelian (Queens) and Lisa Tixier (Biola). Arakelian posted times in the 100 and 200 breast that rank him second and first in Division II, respectively. Tixier also had a busy weekend as she swam seven times (four 1st, two 2nd, one 3rd) in the Bay Area Invitational.

Kenyon swept this weekend’s Division III National Awards as Connor Rumpit earned the Men’s Award after posting times that place him third in the 500 and second in the 1,000 freestyles nationally for Division III. Hannah Orbach-Mandel grabbed the award on the women’s side.

NAIA Awards also saw a sweep by the same school as College of Idaho’s Andrew Clifford and Caroline Yannelli took home the NAIA National Awards.

Finishing off the national awards are NJCAA Award winners Gabriel Knaut and Alicia Shenal, both Monroe Commuity College.
