Stanford won the Conference title at the 2017 Men's Pac-12 Swimming Championships, held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. It is the Cardinal's second-straight title and the 33rd Pac-12 title in program history.
Depth was a key factor in Stanford winning the title, earning two of three diving first places and getting on the podium in 12 of 18 races. The Cardinal claimed two individual swimming championships, one of which came on Saturday night with freshman True Sweetser winning the 1,650-yard freestyle in 14:35.93, a Pac-12 Championship record that had not been broken since 2003. Freshman Grant Shoults won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:10.67.
Arizona State freshman Cameron Craig was named Swimmer of the Meet, an honor voted on by the coaches at the end of the meet after he won two individual events and one relay title over the four days of competition. California Senior Ryan Murphy was also honored at the end of the meet as the 2016 Pac-12 Men's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES
1650-yard Freestyle
• Stanford freshman True Sweetser won the 1650-yard freestyle in a Pac-12 Championship record time of 14:35.93 which is also good enough for the NCAA ‘A’ Standard. The Pac-12 Championship record had not been broken since 2003.
• Stanford took one through three in the event with freshman Grant Shoults coming in second in a time of 14:50.06 and Liam Egan, the 2016 winner in the event, coming in third in a time of 14:57.47.
200-yard Backstroke
• Senior Ryan Murphy of California won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 1:39.83, an NCAA ‘A’ Standard.
• Murphy won the 100-yard backstroke in a Pac-12 Championship record on Day 3.
• Sophomore Patrick Mulcare of USC was second in a time of 1:39.37 and Arizona State senior Richard Bohus was third in a time of 1:39.52. All three times are NCAA ‘A’ Standards.
100-yard Freestyle
• Arizona State freshman Cameron Craig won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 41.95, and NCAA ‘A’ Standard time.
• This is the first time Arizona State has won the event since 1997.
• Stanford junior Sam Perry was second with a time of 42.30 and California junior Justin Lynch was third with a time of 42.49.
200-yard Breaststroke
• USC senior Steven Stumph won the event for the third-straight year with a time of 1:53.08.
• Stumph took nearly one second off of his winning time from 2016.
• California senior Hunter Cobleigh took second in 1:53.51 and junior Christian Lorenz of Arizona State was third in a time of 1:53.87.
200-yard Butterfly
• Seliskar's time of 1:41.12 was good for a first-place finish for the second-straight year.
• California has claimed the Conference title in the event for the third-straight year and sixth time in the last seven years.
• California also took the second place spot with Michael Thomas coming in at 1:41.83. Arizona junior Justin Wright was third in a time of 1:41.88.
400-yard Freestyle Relay
• Arizona State's quartet of senior Richard Bohus, junior Andrew Porter, senior Tadas Duskinas, and freshman and Swimmer of the Meet Cameron Craig in a time of 2:48.95.
• It is the Sun Devils first time winning the event since 1980.
• USC was second in 2:50.37 and California was third in 2:50.55.
The NCAA Championships will be held March 22-25 at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in downtown Indianapolis, Ind.
