Bryant Tops Holy Cross

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Tavish Boyle (Springfield, N.J.) won three events and Kevin Sullivan (East Lyme, Conn.) set the school record in the 3 meter dive as the Bryant University men's swimming and diving team defeated Holy Cross, 201-99, Saturday afternoon in Worcester.

The Bulldogs wrap up their dual meet schedule on Sunday when they host Boston University at the Chace Athletic Center Pool. Bryant will honor its senior class prior to the meet.

On Saturday, Boyle took home victories in the 100 breast (1:00.11), the 200 breast (2:11.62) and the 200 IM (2:00.83). Sullivan won both the 1 meter and 3 meter diving events, setting a school record with a score of 291.07 in the 3 meter dive.

Bryant swept the top three spots in the 1000 free as Robert Davis (Glastonbury, Conn.), Colin Curtin (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Damian Parzych (Farmington, Conn.) touched the wall in succession. Davis won the event with a time of 10:05.96.

The Bulldogs also took home the top two spots in the 100 back, the 50 free and the 200 back. Cyrus Nabavi (Murray, Kent.) and Benon Boyadjian (Middlebury, Conn.) went 1-2 in the 100 back, Zachary Hannon (Marlborough, Mass.) and Boris Paraliticci (Saunderstown, R.I.) took the top two spots in the 50 free and Curtin and Nabavi went 1-2 in the 200 back.

Bryant also received first-place finishes from Oliver French (Nashua, N.H.), Davis and Boyadjian. French won the 200 fly, Davis won the 500 free and Boyadjian won the 100 fly.

Sullivan won both the diving events and Zach Vogel (South Easton, Mass.) finished second in both events. 

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's swimming and diving team won all 16 events on its way to a convincing 224-74 victory over Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon in Worcester.

The Bulldogs will host Boston University on Sunday before closing their dual meet season on Feb. 4 against Rhode Island.

Bryant put forth a total team effort on Saturday in Worcester, going 1-2 in six events and 1-2-3 in three others.

The Bulldogs opened the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 1000 free led by Mackenzie Kirk (San Jose, Calif.) and Alyssa DiFiore (Wethersfield, Conn.). Kirk won the event with a time of 10:42.86.

Bryant then swept the top three spots in the 200 free. Jillian Rice (Trumbull, Conn.), Erin Daly (Reading, Mass.) and Nicole Salzano (Elmwood Park, N.J.) went 1-2-3.

The Black and Gold also swept 500 free and the 100 fly. Daly, Salzano and Valeria Watson (Mexico City, Mexico) had the clean sweep in the 500 and Taylor Poliseno (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.), Samantha Torrez (Whittier, Calif.) and Domenica Alcala (Cancun, Mexico) swept the 100 fly.

Bryant took home 1-2 finishes in the 100 breast, the 100 free, the 200 breast and both the 1 and 3 meter diving events. Eliza Brant (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and Danielle Whitaker (Narragansett, R.I.) went 1-2 in the 100 breast, Rice and Salzano went 1-2 in the 100 free and Brant and Kayleigh Canavan (Cumberland, R.I.) went 1-2 in the 200 breast.

Ann Burdick (Glenmont, N.Y.) and Kelci Abernethy (Chandler, Ariz.) shared the diving events as Burdick won the 1 meter and Abernethy won the 3 meter. Burdick also finished second in the 3 and Abernethy was second in the 1.

Bryant also received first-place finishes in the 100 back, 200 fly, 50 free, 200 back and 200 IM. Alaina Scifo (Ipswich, Great Britain) won the 100 back and 200 IM, Alcala won the 200 fly, Rice won the 50 free and Watson won the 200 back.

The quartet of Watson, Whitaker, Alcala and Poliseno combined to open the meet with a victory in the 400 medley relay. Alcala, Canavan, Poliseno and Rice closed the meet with a victory in the 200 free relay.
