Liberty Press Release

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Liberty swimming & diving team closed out the 2016-17 regular-season schedule with three wins at this weekend’s Davidson Duals, which wrapped up on Saturday at Davidson’s Charles A. Cannon Pool.

In dual-meet scoring, Liberty downed Davidson (188-148), Georgia Southern (229-113) and Gardner-Webb (221-93). Davidson went 2-1 on the weekend, while Georgia Southern finished 1-2 and Gardner-Webb lost to all three opponents.

With the wins, Liberty is now 10-2 in dual-meet action this season, including 5-1 against CCSA opponents. This is Liberty’s sixth winning season in a row, and fourth 10-win campaign in the last six years.

On Saturday, Liberty won five out of eight swimming events, giving the Lady Flames victories in 12 out of 17 events contested in the pool this weekend. Alicia Finnigan won three events at the meet, tying Davidson’s Elyse Lankiewicz for the most events won by an individual, while Liberty claimed all four relays.

Finnigan claimed the 400 individual medley in 4:28.02, with 2016 CCSA 400 IM champion London Schumacher coming in second at 4:31.55. Tschoke swam 4:42.43 for fifth place.

The Lady Flames won the meet-ending 200 free relay, as Baker, Hoeve, Weiss and Donlin clocked 1:36.30.

Elyse Lankiewicz of Davidson, the two-time Atlantic 10 Performer of the Year, won the 500 free in 5:01.36. Liberty took three out of the next four spots, with Finnigan (5:03.60) coming in second, Delia Weber (5:07.26) taking third and Ashlee Sall (5:07.82) finishing fifth.
