AMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's swimming team picked up a Sunshine State Conference road victory over Saint Leo University on Friday afternoon in its regular-season finale and final home meet of the 2016-17 season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Tampa took a total of four first-place finishes in the meet.
• The team's split the relay races, with Tampa taking the opening relay while SLU closed out the event with a first-place relay effort.
TOP PERFORMERS:
• The Spartans won the opening race of the meet, taking the 200 Medley Relay in a time of 1:33.93. The winning team was made up of Ethan Harrington, Stefano Vrolijk, Marc-Olivier Caron and Martin Hammer. Tampa also took third place in the race.
• Tampa accumulated points in the 200 Fly with first and second-place finishes, led by the win by Sean Rodney with a time of 1:53.88. Victor Philaire followed with a 1:54.63. Rodney would later take first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:57.03 as Vrolijk was second at 1:57.92.
• Senior All-American Hammer won the 50 Free with a time of 20.80. Aaron James was third in the event after being timed at 21.72.

TOP PERFORMERS:
• UT had its first win of the afternoon in the 200 Fly as Victoria Horsman emerged as the fastest with a time of 2:12.86.
• Senior Marisa Barton won the 50 Free with a time of 24.39. Teammate Allison Hutchins was third at 25.45.
• Tampa also had a first-place effort from Sophie Long in the 100 Fly as she was clocked at 59.17. Izzy Spalding was third with a 59.99 effort.
