FORT WORTH – The North Texas swimming and diving team won 13 of 16 events, defeating Metroplex rival TCU 183-117 in Fort Worth Friday. It was the second consecutive year that the Mean Green defeated the Horned Frogs in a dual meet after winning 168-130 last year in Denton.
“Tonight was a total team effort and a total team win,” interim head coach Brittany Roth said. “I’m very pleased with how each person stepped forward tonight. We’ve been working all season on winning as a team and tonight we showed that when we pull in the same direction we can be a powerful team. Our goal has always been to peak at Conference USA championships and they are right around the corner. I’m looking forward to our progress in the next couple weeks.”
Junior Sarah Vaisse won two events, taking home first in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:04.36 and winning the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:07.40. Her 100 breaststroke time was the fastest by a North Texas swimmer this year.
Freshman Jowita Sienczyk won the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.23, which was just under a half-second off her personal best of 55.93 which she set earlier this season. Only three swimmers in North Texas history have swam faster than Sienczyk in that event.
Junior Claudia Kitching won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:19.03 which is her second-fastest time of the season. Kitching swam the second-fastest time in that event in school history last season, with an NCAA B-cut time of 2:13.18.
In the three-meter diving competition, North Texas senior Samantha Scheck took home first place with a score of 240.89, which was her second-best score of the season.

FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU women’s swimming team dropped the match against North Texas, 183-117, at the University Recreation Center on Friday night. The Horned Frogs fall to 15-5 all time against the Mean Green.
The Races
Sophomore Maddie Ibrahim, junior Devin Newton, freshman Claire Munster and sophomore Micaela Roemer opened the meet with a first-place time of 1:46.06 in the 200-yard medley relay. Roemer went on to place second in the 100-yard butterfly at 58.03 and third in the 100-yard freestyle at 53.94.
Freshman Katie Woods continued to have a successful first season in Purple and White, as she took home gold in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:33.19. Senior Meagan Thompson followed in third at 10:45.66. Woods also went on to place third in the 500-yard freestyle behind a time of 5:13.18.
Four Frogs took home silver medal times after a strong start by TCU. Freshman Bailey Flynn had a great final leg of the 200-yard freestyle, nearly catching North Texas in first. Flynn finished in second at 2:07.62. Freshman Elise Forzley took home second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.79. Senior Ashley Dyke followed that up with a second-place performance of her own in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:22.54, and sophomore Catherine Maxey took home second in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:08.72.
Also earning top-three finishes were freshman Hannah Burt in the 200 free (1:55.59), Forzley in the 100 back (58.21), Newton in the 100 breast (1:06.05) and Munster in the 50 free (24.72).
