La Salle Conquers Mount Saint Mary's

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle Men's Swimming team defeated Mount St. Mary's on Friday evening, 133-55. The Men have just one more event this year at Kirk Pool.

"The meet tonight was a key stepping stone for the teams in preparation for peak performance at the Atlantic 10 Championships," said Head Coach Jamie Platt after the win. "We are looking forward to the opportunity to race again tomorrow afternoon."

The 200 medley relay team started the event with a win as Cameron Fadley, Jerry Gravel, Fabian Bergman, Jakub Bartosiewicz clocked in at 1:35.47. 

Gravel, a senior, later topped the 200 free in 1:43.51 to pick up another win for La Salle. Meanwhile, Bartosiewicz finished the 50 free for in 22.10 seconds for first place. 

In the 1000 free, senior Mattias Glenesk finished atop the leaderboard with a final time of 9:37.68, almost 34 seconds ahead of second place. Glenesk also took the 500 free in 4:43.98. 

Freshman Christoff Ras placed atop the 200 IM, finishing in 1:58.43. 

In the 200 fly, Dimitrije Mladenovic touched the wall in 1:58.98 for first place. Freshmen Sean Barbour and Nate Woodman took second and third in the event. 

In the 100 free, senior Sam Odtallah took first with a 47.19 second finish. 

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle Women's Swimming team picked up a convincing 127-55 win over Mount St. Mary's on Friday evening at Kirk Pool.

The 200 medley relay team started the evening off in a big way as the Olivia DiStefano, Maddy Koelsch, Eva Oesterhus, and Katlyn Hay combined to touch the wall in 1:51.11 for first place. Oesterhus and Koelsch delivered yet again in the 500 free as the senior and junior duo placed one-two. Oesterhus' top time was marked at 1:58.56. Oesterhus later ran away with the 200 fly, clocking in at 2:10 flat.

Later in the evening, DiStefano topped the 50 free. The standout sophomore's final time was 24.58 seconds.

In the 200 IM, junior Hannah Elliott took first in 2:12.80. Just behind her, freshman Carrie Horan clocked in at 2:14.69 for second place. Elliott also proved to be the top swimmer in the 200 backstroke (2:13.07). 

Hay won the 100 free in a somewhat tight finish. Her final time of 55.34 seconds was three tenths of a second ahead of senior teammate Tanawan Sukonthapanich.

Freshman Emily Wolbert seperated herself from the pack in the 500 free, touching the wall in 5:25.98 to take first place. Sophomore Siobhan McDonough placed second in the event.

Philadelphia (January 27, 2017) – The Mount St. Mary's University women's swimming & diving team fell by a 127-55 margin at La Salle on Friday night in the Mountaineers' first action of the spring semester.

Alyssa Felos posted a first-place showing in the 200 breast with a time of 2:32.47. Felos was followed by Lauren Gullicson (2:34.35) and Hunter Montevideo (2:43.53) to round out the top-three finishers.

Sarah Bonson registered the Mount's other top individual finish of the night, taking second place in the 200 fly in 2:16.11.

In the final event of the meet, the 200 free relay, the Mount's 'A' squad of Bonson, Angela Sampson, Victoria Aung and Meghan McCarthy took the top spot with a time of 1:51.52.

Philadelphia (January 27, 2017) – The Mount St. Mary's University men's swimming & diving team returned to action for the first time of the spring semester on Friday night, falling at La Salle by a 133-55 margin.

Rookie Will Twizell highlighted the night for the Mount, placing first in the 200 back with a time of 1:59.09 as he edged out Christoff Ras of La Salle, who clocked in at 1:59.37.

Vincent Huang registered a first-place showing in the 200 breast in a time of 2:14.47, and Aidan McCormick took second with a time of 2:16.25.

The Mount's 'A' relay squad closed out the night by winning the 200 free relay as Andrew Quinan, Liam Taylor, Matt Hart and Huang clocked in at 1:37.83
