Washington & Jefferson Splits With Penn State Behrend

The Washington & Jefferson men's and women's swimming and diving teams split a road dual at Penn State Behrend on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 7, with the women earning their ninth win of the season.

Top Performers: Chloe Magyari (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) led the women with three individual wins in the 200 freestyle (2:02.80), 100 freestyle (56.00) and 100 butterfly (1:03.01) while anchoring the victorious 200 medley relay (1:58.16) preceded by Jillian McElhaney (Butler, Pa./Butler Area), Hayley Georgetti (Washington, Pa./Linsly) and Rachel Nye (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg). The men were led by Owen Hanna (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) who placed first in the 50 freestyle (23.07) and 100 freestyle (50.45) while swimming the second leg for the victorious 400 freestyle relay (3:25.85) along with Zach Lauer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin), Ian Geister (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and Nicholas Willison (Rockford, Mich./Rockford).

The Rest: McElhaney won the 100 backstroke (1:04.93) and the 200 backstroke (2:22.52) while swimming the second leg for the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:53.81) along with Maris Leonard (Pittsburgh, Pa./Greensburg-Salem), Madison Babicka (Demotte, Ind./Kankakee Valley) and Nye. Claire Atherton (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area) placed first in the 200 butterfly (2:36.94) and Kaitlyn Pawcio (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) won both diving events with scores of 247.55 in the one-meter dive and 221.55 in the three-meter. On the men's side, Willison won the 500 freestyle (5:07.83), Jeremy Glasner (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) won the 200 individual medley (2:09.06) and Jacob Beckwith (Kent, Ohio/Theodore Roosevelt) won the three-meter dive (185.65).
