SAVANNAH, Ga. – The University of Tampa men's swimming team traveled north and picked up an easy victory over Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Tampa took first-place finishes in eight of the 14 men's events.
• Both men's relay races resulted in first-place efforts by the Spartans.
TOP PERFORMERS:
• The Spartans opened the men's action with a first-place showing in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:34.34 by the team of Ethan Harrington, Stefano Vrolijk, Marc-Olivier Caron and Martin Hammer.
• Vrolijk also won the 100 Breast (58.77) and was followed by teammates Cooper Holmes (59.44) and Nicholas Stoski (59.61). Vrolijk would later add a top finish in the 200 Breast after being timed at 2:09.54.
• The 200 Fly also included Spartans in all three top spots, led by Sean Rodney (1:52.28). Finishing second and third were Victor Philaire (1:54.48) and Tomas Manso-Fraga (1:56.94).
• Hammer was first in the 50 Free (20.73). UT swimmers Bryan Mattingly (21.66) and Aaron James (21.73) were the next to finish.
• Tampa had swimmers in the top four spots of the 200 Back, which was won by Brett Saunders (1:53.07).
• UT's Caron added a first-place effort in the 100 Fly, being timed at 50.89.
• In the final event of the meet, Tampa's group of Hammer, Caron, Mattingly and James logged a first-place time of 1:23.49.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Tampa took first-place finishes in eight of the 14 women's events.
• Both women's relay races resulted in first-place efforts by the Spartans.
TOP PERFORMERS:
• The Spartans opened the meet with a first in the 200 Medley Relay from Brittany Murphy, McKenzie Street, Sophie Long and Marisa Barton. They were clocked at 1:49.20.
• Brittany Bayes was the winner of the 1,000 Free as her time was 10:42.10. She also took the 500 Free with an effort of 5:11.85.
• Street continued her excellent season with another dominant meet, also winning the 100 Breast (1:07.13), 200 Breast (2:24.82) and the 400 IM (4:39.30).
• UT had the top four finishers in the 50 Free as Barton won in 24.52. Finishing second and third respectively were Molly O'Hara (25.02) and Megan Waddell (25.14).
• In the 100 Fly, Long won with a time of 58.07.
• Tampa concluded the race with a first-place finish in the 200 Free Relay. The winning time of 1:38.57 was registered by Barton, O'Hara, Waddell and Murphy.

The SCAD Savannah men's and women's swimming teams celebrated senior day in a dual meet against the University of Tampa Friday morning. The men lost 86-175 while the women fell 100-162.
TOP FINISHERS: On the men's side, Joel Thatcher (Mason, Ohio – Sequential Art) won the 1000-yard freestyle (9:29.88), the 100-yard backstroke (53.44) and the 400-yard IM (4:02.28).
Meanwhile, Joel Ax (Idstein, Germany – Furniture Design) was .01 seconds away from tying the record in the 100-yard freestyle with his winning time of 44.32. Ax also won the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.11) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:28.56).
Julie Woody (Raleigh, N.C. – Design Management) started the winning for the women when she won the 200-yard freestyle with her time of 1:54.20. Woody also won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.79.
Julie Henninger (Colorado Springs, Colo. – Visual Effects) won the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.08) while Lydia Reinhardt (Rockford, Ill. – Interior Design) and Cadie Crow (Buford, Ga. – Industrial Design) won the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.69) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.19), respectively.
TOP THREE FINISHES – MEN: Ryan Sweat (Overland Park, Kansas - Architecture) placed third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.34.
TOP THREE FINISHES – WOMEN: Rebecca Justus (Marietta, Ga. – Visual Effects) finished third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:54.81 and second in the 400-yard IM (4:45.06). Abigail Richey (Colonial Heights, Va. – Animation) came in third in the 200-yard freestyle with her time of 1:58.62.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Sara Lacusky (Palm City, Fla. – Fashion Marketing and Management) placed second with a time of 1:08.00. Lacusky took third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.93)0 while Henninger finished second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:15.75).
Richey came in second in the 500-yard freestyle with her time of 5:15.75. In the 100-yard butterfly, Woody and Reinhardt finished second and third with their respective times of 59.17 and 1:00.50.
RELAYS – MEN: The 200-yard medley relay team of Thatcher, Sam Kim (Liburn, Ga. – Performing Arts), Anton Arvidsson (Kama, Sweden – Interior Design) and Tim Olbrich (Recklinghausen, Germany – Graphic Design) placed second with a time of 1:36.23 while the team of Graham Spieler (Bethania, N.C. – Illustration), Styrbjorn Torell (Lerbergert, Sweden – Architecture), Brogan Bunner (Marietta, Ga. – User Experience (UX) Design) and Roger Kjos (Dana Point, Calif. – Film and Television) came in fifth (1:41.77).
Nick Wargo (Norwalk, Conn. – Graphic Design), Ax, Sweat and Olbrich finished second (1:24.71) in the 200-yard freestyle relay while Joel Salomonsson (Stockholm, Sweden – Industrial Design), JT Bartel (Cary, N.C. – Interactive Design/Game Development), Charles Radloff (Madison, Wis. – Undeclared) and Josh Smilie (Semmes, Ala. – Undeclared) came in fifth with a time of 1:31.88.
RELAYS – WOMEN: In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Henninger, Lacusky, Crow and Meagan McManus (Bloomington, Ill. – Art History) placed second with their time of 1:50.60 while Erika Rolle (Houston, Texas – Undeclared), Alle Ragland (Colgate, Wis. – Interior Design), Reinhardt and Annie Weber Callahan (Lake Placid, Fla. – Historic Preservation) took fifth (1:57.86).
Woody, Richey, Emily Rozar (Wichita, Ks. – Undeclared) and Weber Callahan finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:40.15) while Allison Smith (Hoover, Ala. – Photography), Emily Paryzek (Norfolk, Va. – Fashion Design), Taylor Aseere (Pompano Beach, Fla. – Computer Animation) and Justus finished fifth (1:47.80).
SENIORS: During the second break of the meet, the men's and women's swimming teams honored the eight senior members of the team: Joel Ax, Roger Kjos, Joel Salomonsson, Rasmus Salomonsson (Stockholm, Sweden – Architecture), Styrbjorn Torell, Taylor Aseere, Meagan McManus and Julie Woody.
