Akron Remains In Lead After Day 2 of Mid-American Conference Champs

After two days of action, the Akron Zips remain atop at the 2017 MAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship on the campus of Miami University. Akron currently has a 51.5 lead over the Buffalo, who sits in second place.
 
Akron sophomore Madison Myers (Akron, Ohio) broke a Mid-American Conference record in the 200 IM and the Akron women's swimming and diving team sits atop the team standings with 274 points following day two of the 2017 MAC Championships at Corwin Nixon Aquatic Center on the campus of Miami (Ohio).
 
Myers captured the 200 IM for the second straight year as she cruised home in 1:56.92, nearly three seconds ahead of the second place finisher. The winning time broke the MAC mark of 1:57.87 that she set in preliminaries earlier in the day and also marks a new program, meet and pool record.
 
1:56.92 is the 27th fastest time in the nation this season.
 
Megan Burns of Buffalo remains undefeated in the 50 Free at the MAC Championships. Her three-year-long streak continued Thursday night as she broke the school, meet, and conference record with her time of 22.04. Burns was also a member of the gold-winning 200 Free Relay team. Alongside her were teammates Sarah Baxter, Eve Kosten, and Andrea Ernst. The four swam to a finishing time of 1:29.97 to take home the gold.
 
Miami’s Ella Moynihan won the 500-yard freestyle relay for the RedHawks, clocking in at 4:46.65. Her time broke the Miami school record, replacing Stephanie Pearce’s 4:48.82 time at the 2014 MAC Championships. While Pei Lin won the one-meter dive for the third year in a row at the MAC Championships, earning a score of 332.10.
